October 14, 2020 – The City of Kitchener is extending its patio program until the end of the year, and plans to allow restaurants and bars to serve patrons outdoors “as long as possible.”

“Extending the patio season, I hope will give owners options while staying within provincial and regional public health guidelines,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Heated outdoor patios this upcoming winter season, could be a great way to support local businesses while still following public health guidelines.”

Waterloo city council voted to extend its sidewalk patio program until January 2022 earlier this month, meaning they can continue to operate until the start of sidewalk snow clearing.
