Call for Expressions of Interest in the role of Director for the Board of the Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation representing the "Attractions Sector"

The Board of Directors of the Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation request expressions of interest from regional tourism members with a desire to pursue the role of Board Director representing the "Attractions Sector" in Waterloo Region with our Corporation.

Participate in the decision making and help develop the plans to drive the creation and sustainability of wealth within our tourism sector by promoting and profiling the region with marketing excellence.

Board positions with WRTMC are voluntary roles with fiduciary responsibility for the development of strategies and budgets to market the Waterloo Region to residents, visitors, tourists, corporate planners, media writers, tour groups, etc. Board meetings are held at the third Tuesday of each month from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Opportunities exist for Directors to participate in committee and advisory positions.

Part Time Night Auditor

Scope:
Provides Welcoming, Engaging and Empowered guest services which include guest registration, bell services, telephone services and guest reservations to ensure guest satisfaction and maximize hotel profitability in conjunction with accurately balancing all Hotel income and expenses for a 24 hour operating period.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to overall strategic goals, initiatives and objectives with a truly visionary approach
  • Performs all Guest Service Agent functions as required; may assist in booking room reservations; may assist in answering hotel phone calls and notifying guests of messages; will facilitate proper security of department keys.
  • Balances and audits for accuracy room revenue, food and beverage revenue and telephone revenue; completes all reports relevant to daily revenues.
  • Balances and audits for accuracy all room and tax charges, cashier’s reports and guest and house accounts.
  • Completes and transmits daily management and accounting reports and supporting documents; prepares customer tracking report, market segmentation report, food and beverage revenue report necessary to ensure the accurate accounting of hotel revenues and expenses.
  • Communicates with other hotel departments as necessary to resolve accounting discrepancies and to request or provide information.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Hospitality Management/ Accounting an asset but not required
  • 1 year experience working within Night Audit/Accounting is preferred
  • Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm and celebrates success
  • Strong written, analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Strong computer skills required and knowledge of Opera an asset
  • Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment
